Disney Princess Room Decor Ideas

Thinking about Snow White, Ariel, or Cinderella for your Girl's Disney Princess Room?

Or maybe it's Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, or Belle that crosses your mind right now?

Before starting the whole decorating Disney Princess room process, first thing first is to know which character is the room's REAL Princess' favorite.

Not sure? Then go ask the Girl! It would be a waste of time, money, and energy to decor the room if we're not gonna see that huge smile on her face when it's done! :)

If your Girl is too young to be asked, here are some ways to find out:

  • Rent some DVDs/Movie Videos starring the Disney Princess. Pay attention while she's watching, which one seems to make her happier?

  • Take her to Disneyland on vacation, which character she loves to meet the most?

  • Take her and the rest of the family to watch the Disney on Ice show. Watch for which Disney Princess she pays most attention to?

  • Buy her a set of Disney Princess dolls. Which Disney Princess she plays with most of the time?

After knowing her favorite princess, we can finally start decorating the Disney Princess Bedroom! :)

Snow White

Walt Disney's Snow White, premiered in Hollywood on the December of 1937, is the first ever Disney Princess. The movie "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" became a hit and America fell in love with her. Nowadays people from all around the world know and adore her.

In the story, Snow White lives in the Seven Dwarfs' home in the jungle where most of the furnitures inside the house are wooden. So, wooden bedding and furnitures is the perfect pick for this Disney Princess bedroom.

It doesn't have to be made of wood, other furniture with wooden brown color will do just fine.

Other choices? Soft yellow and soft blue are also good, since yellow and blue are the main color of Snow White's dress.

For the walls, colors of nature are the best fit. Use sky blue or soft green as the main color.

If you're going to use wallpaper, pick one with pictures of small wild flowers, or one with jungle animals such as rabbits and reindeers.

Feeling creative? Have extra time? Don't use wallpapers, let's have some FUN painting your Disney Princess room's walls! :)

  • First, paint all the walls with either sky blue or soft green wall paints. Let it dry.

  • Pick a darker green paint (not too dark) and use a small paintbrush to make wave lines on the height of 40-50 centimeters above the floor.
Then use a medium paintbrush to paint inside the wave lines with the color used to make the wave lines itself.
Try to make it looks like a valley in the jungle.

  • After the paint dries, make some animal Wall Murals such as rabbits, deers, and other friendly jungle animals.
Paint it on the "valley area" of the wall.

  • Make some grass and wild flowers wall murals, also on the "valley area" of the wall. Make it scattered to cover large empty spaces, but don't make the walls looked too full.

  • Paint some butterfly wall murals on the "sky area" of the walls. Make it scattered and paint some above or on the wild flowers.

TIPS:

  • If you're planning on adding accents on the walls, such as posters, picture frames, hanging letters, etc., remember not to make the walls looked too crowded. Too many wall murals plus extra accents are just too much.

  • Add Seven Dwarfs Wall Murals too if there are still lots of empty spaces on the wall or if you're not planning on adding other seven dwarfs accents such as posters, etc.

  • Click Here for instructions on How To Make Your Own Wall Murals!

Pheewww.. After finishing the walls and picking furnitures, now it's Hunting Time!!

No no, of course we're not going to hunt in the jungle! We're going to hunt the stores for Snow White Disney Princess room accessories! :)

For the bed, look for Snow White bedding set with the colors that match the room's main color.

Have you decided to paint the walls as instructed above?

Then this Disney Princess room itself already has enough colors. So we should look for bedding sets with less color combination and less motif on it to avoid the room of being over crowded.

If the walls are already crowded with pictures, you can skip wall accessories. But if there are empty spaces, here is some ideas to fill it:

  • Browse the internet for Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs pictures. Pick one with a good resolution and a large size. Print the picture on a photo paper after resizing it to the size you want. Frame it with a wooden frame and hang it above the girl's bed.

    TIPS:

Go to the copy or printing center to print a large size picture that doesn't fit in your printer.
Larger picture will look better above the bed, standard A4 home printer size is too small.

  • If it's a big room or there are lots of empty spaces on the wall, hang wooden letters of the seven dwarfs names plus the girl's name on the wall.
That would be Dopey, Grumpy, Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy, Sleepy, and your kid's name.

  • If your girl has a Snow White costume, take a picture of her wearing it. Frame and hang it on the wall or put it on her studying desk.

Kids love to play on the floor, so they use their rugs a lot. A Snow White themed rug will be great!

Can't seem to find one? That's OK, just look for childrens rugs with the color combination of blue and yellow. Other nature colors such as grass green and light brown are also good. Wild flower motif fits the Disney Princess room too.

Cinderella

Who doesn't know Cinderella?

Fairy tale of a beautiful young woman living with her mean step mother and two mean step sisters. Many of us have fallen in love with her story of finding happiness with the Prince.

Let's have some FUN creating this Disney Princess room decor.

We'll start with the walls.

Look for wallpapers with light gold or medium yellow as the main color to create the royalty feel of the room. White and gold vertical striped one is also great. Or you can use blue, just like Cinderella's dress. Then add Cinderella wall border to finish up your walls.

Want to create an unique Disney Princess room? Forget the wallpapers and grab some paints and paintbrushes! :)

  • Paint all the walls with medium-light yellow as background. Don't use bright yellow, it won't be comfortable for the eyes. Don't use dark yellow either, the room will look dark.

  • Make 1 centimeter width medium brown horizontal line about 1.1 meters from the floor. And draw another same line about 10 centimeters above the first one.

  • Paint the area in between the lines with sky blue.

  • Paint alphabet murals on the blue area that spells "CINDERELLA". Use medium brown as the color.
Give about 12 centimeters space for each letter and about 20 centimeters before starting a new word (that's before painting another "C").

For the patterns, print each letter with the height of 6-7 centimeters using your word processor.

  • Browse for a simple crown picture on the internet, or draw it yourself if you like. Use it to make smaller wall murals between each letter.

Resize the picture to the width of about 4 centimeters to use as a pattern to paint between the letters and print another pattern with the width of 8 centimeters to be painted between the words.

Use golden yellow as the main color of the crown. Other colors such as red or pink can be used for accents.

  • Make some scattered medium sized simple castle wall murals on the background (yellow) area of the walls. Use blue or light brown for the color.

  • That's it, you've got a great Disney Princess room walls! :)

For the bedding, there are many choices for Disney Princess bedroom beddings in the stores. So take your girl for a shopping and let her pick her own favorite!

Remember to match the bedding set with the room's main color.

Also look for Cinderella themed rug to be put in the room.

Can't find one? Don't worry, just pick a plain or striped one with some color combinations that match the room's color.

For example, for a Disney Princess room walls painted as suggested above, a rug with bright yellow and blue or bright yellow and light brown stripes will match perfectly.

Combinations of any color with white are also good, such as bright yellow and white or soft blue and white.

Have some unused old desk or chairs? Re-paint it and put it in the room, no need to buy a new one. Pick soft blue for the color. Resize the old furnitures to fit your Girl's age if possible and necessary.

To match the Cinderella theme even more, replace the furniture's drawer knobs with Cinderella ones.

Last one, look for a blue Cinderella Table Lamp, put it beside the girl's bed. A plain soft blue one is great too.

Pheeewww... The Cinderella Disney Princess room is finally done, Great Job!

What? The room hasn't looked crowded enough?

If the room is big, put some other accessories to fill as you like. Just remember to match it with the room's colors.

Here are some extra ideas to complete this Disney Princess room even more:

  • Find a large Cinderella poster and put it above the Girl's bed. Frame it if you like, use metallic silver frame or soft blue one.

  • Take some picture of your girl wearing a Cinderella costume and a crown. Frame it and put it on her desk or hang it on the wall.
Doesn't have a Cinderella costume? A blue dress will do just fine. :)

  • Track records of your girl's growth using a Cinderella growth chart. She'll love doing this everyday!

Ariel (The Little Mermaid)

Girls love Ariel, The little princess from an underwater city of Atlantica ruled by her father King Triton.

Since Ariel is a mermaid who lived in the sea before she met Prince Eric, we'll create a sea theme for this Disney Princess room decor. It'll be FUN!

Let's start with the walls...

Look for sea themed wallpaper with blue or sea green as the main color. Pick one with not too crowded motifs so we can add some Ariel wall accessories later.

Wanna have more fun? Have extra time? Let's paint our own unique Disney Princess room walls!

  • Paint whole area of the walls with soft blue or sea green as the background. Leave it to dry.

  • Pick a sandy brown paint and use a paintbrush to make wave lines on the height of 40-50 centimeters above the floor.
Then use a medium paintbrush to paint inside the wave lines with the color used to make the wave lines itself.
This will be the base of the ocean.

  • Browse for some seaweed pictures. Paint some seaweed wall murals of different sizes and shapes using those pictures as patterns.

  • Look for pictures of Ariel, Flounder (the clownfish) and Sebastian (the lobster) to make large sized wall murals. Use your feeling and creativity to pick the perfect pose of the characters and the perfect spot in this Disney Princess room to paint it on.

Too much work to do? There's another option for this. Hunt for Ariel themed wall stick ups at online stores. Lots of great choices and easier to apply too!

  • Add small sized pictures of various kinds of fish and seashells to the wall.

  • Paint bubbles of various sizes to fill in the "water" spaces left. Don't make the walls looked too crowded though.

Pheeewww... Lots of work, huh? :)

But your Girl must be so happy to have her own unique Ariel the Disney Princess room walls!

Oh, btw, it really adds lots of extra FUN if the whole family do this wall painting activity together. Arrange this "event" when they're all available, like weekends or other holidays.

Next... Furnitures!

Re-use old furnitures if available. Just re-paint it with soft blue, sea green, or soft purple (Ariel's shell bikini's color). Resize the furnitures to fit your Girl's age is possible and necessary.

Want a new one? Let's go hunting! :)

Ariel themed furnitures will be perfect for this Disney Princess room. Hunt online to compare prices and more choices.

Can't find a perfect one? Look for tables and chairs with soft and matching colors for the room, it'll do just fine.

For the bedding, pick Little Mermaid or Sea themed bedding set. Don't forget to match the colors with the Disney Princess room walls we've created!

Add a soft purple colored rug to the room. Combination of purple with green or blue is also great. A sea motif such as seashells or fish on the rug is even better.

Have you decided to use wallpaper for the room's walls? Then the room might not feel "Ariel enough" yet. :)

Put a large sized Little Mermaid poster above the bed. Framing it is also a good idea.

Look for Little Mermaid main characters dolls and put it on the bed or at the corner of this Disney Princess room if the doll size is big.

Hang some framed pictures of the room's owner on the wall or put it on the desk. Use sea themed picture frames.

Now your girl has got a Great Ariel the Disney Princess bedroom. :)

Belle (Beauty and The Beast)

Belle in French means beautiful, so this Disney Princess room should be made beautiful and elegant.

Now let's start with the walls.

In the movie, the room setting in the Beast's castle uses golden yellow as the main color. So we're going to use this as the main color for our themed room.

Look for wallpapers with light gold or medium yellow as the main color. Elegant motifs such as small flowery ones are good. Let your girl pick the one she loves the most.

To create a unique Disney Princess room, don't use wallpapers. Let's have some FUN painting the walls! :)

  • Paint all the walls with medium-light yellow as background.

  • Make 1 centimeter width medium brown horizontal line about 1.1 meters from the floor. And draw another same line about 10 centimeters above the first one.

  • Paint the area in between the lines with sky blue.

  • Paint medium sized Crown wall murals along the blue area. Pick a simple designed one to make it easier to draw.
Give a space about 1.5 times the crown's width between each picture. Use golden yellow for the crown's main color and use red or pink and other colors for the accents on the crown.

  • Browse some pictures of Beauty and The Beast's Teacups, Teapot, Saucers, etc. Use it as patterns to paint on the background (yellow) area of the wall.
Make it scattered to fill the large empty space, but don't make the walls "too crowded" though.

Jasmine (Aladdin)

Is Princess Jasmine from the movie Aladdin your Girl's favorite princess?

Then here are some fun ideas to make this great middle-eastern themed Disney Princess room!

First of all, the walls...

Look for wallpapers with middle-eastern motifs such as small triangles, shaggy lines, etc.

These middle-eastern motifs usually use dark colors such as maroon red and brown. Golden color is also used for accents.

Want the room to look brighter?

Pick vertical striped wallpaper with combination of light brown and light red as the color. Or don't use wallpapers, paint the walls yourself. :)

Here are some ideas to paint the Disney Princess room walls:

  • Pick a light maroon paint to use for the background.
Don't pick too dark one, it will make the room looks dark while kid's rooms are normally bright. But remember not to pick a bright red either, it won't be comfortable for the eyes.
Other option to make the room looks brighter is to paint the walls with medium yellow.

  • Make 1 centimeter width medium brown horizontal line about 1.1 meters from the floor. And draw another same line about 10 centimeters above the first one.

  • Pick a sandy brown paint and use a paintbrush to make a line on the height of 40-50 centimeters above the floor. Don't make it too straight or too wavy.
Then use a medium paintbrush to paint inside the line with the color used to make the line itself.

  • Browse for a picture of Princess Jasmine's castle. Enlarge the picture to be used to paint a large wall mural in this Disney Princess room. Paint it using acrylic paints on the brown area or right at the border between the brown area with the background area.

  • Paint medium sized wall murals of Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, Sultan, Genie, The Magic Lamp, and Abu on the wall.

Use your creativity to pick which picture to use for this Disney Princess room and where to paint it. Browse the internet for pictures of the characters to find out the right colors to use.
To make it easier, pick a simple 2D picture to be used as the pattern.

Too much work to do?

Here's another option, hunt for these Disney movie characters pre-painted wall murals or wall stick-ups and apply it to the walls. Pick the best sizes that match this Disney Princess room.

Finished the walls? Then it's time to fill the room with furnitures! :)

The perfect furnitures for this Disney Princess room are carved ones. Pick wooden furnitures with classic brown as the color. Or pick ones made of metal with golden color.

If you want the room to look more sweet, medium or soft blue colored furnitures also match since blue is the color of Genie.

Planning on putting a sofa in the room? Don't forget to pick one that uses middle-eastern fabric to match this room perfectly.

For the bedding, look for Aladdin themed bedding sets. Let your girl pick one that matches the Disney Princess room's colors. Shop online to get more choices and compare prices.

Kids love to play on the floor, so add a rug in the room is a must.

Find middle-eastern rug with colors that match the room or hunt for one that looks like Aladdin's magic Carpet!

TIPS:

Middle-eastern rugs are famous in the world. They have many choices of motifs, fabrics, and prices.
Make sure you visit some stores and compare prices before buying one. And make sure the fabric used is safe for kids.
